August 11, 2008: The tutorial textures on the CD that comes with the book only work with the full commercially released version of the unreal editor. They cannot be used with the demo version that comes with the book. The Maya program is also outdated, so even if you registered it online to get the CD key... it still won't work. There is a lot of good info in the book, and if you make your own textures, then the demo editor teaches you a lot. But the way the CD was handled was really disappointing.

February 02, 2008: While I don't know much about the software that came with this book, I do know the information inside is excellent. I highly recommend this book and a copy of unreal if you want to learn how to make a good map for unreal or any FPS. I used the Editors' Choice Edition for Unreal Tournament 2004 along with this book. Most anytime I got stuck trying to do something this book had the information I needed. Its well organized so you can jump around learning what you want or go though it chapter by chapter if your new to level design. This book was made for Unreal 2. While outdated if your trying to learn Unreal 3, much of the information in here is still of use and can at least get you started with that version of the editor. Worth it if you can't wait for a book to come out for Unreal 3.
