The men of the Bastion Club proved their bravery secretly fighting for their country. Now their leader faces that most dangerous mission of all: finding a bride.
As the mysterious leader of the Bastion Club known as "Dalziel," Royce Varisey, tenth Duke of Wolverstone, served his country for decades, facing dangers untold. But as the holder of one of England's most august noble titles, he must now take on that gravest duty of all: marriage.
Yet the young ladies the grande dames would have him consider are predictably boring. Far more tempting is his castle's willful and determinedly aloof chatelaine, Minerva Chesterton. Beneath her serene façade lies a woman of smoldering sensuality, one who will fill his days with comfort and his nights with sheer pleasure. Determined to claim her, he embarks on a seduction to prove his mastery over every inch of her body . . . and every piece of her heart.
Royce Varisey, Duke of Wolverstone and former enigmatic Bastion Club leader Dalziel, heads to Northumbria to assume his new ducal responsibilities and find a wife. But Minerva Chesterton, the estate's insightful chatelaine and woman of his choice, will only marry for love, creating a dilemma for a man who thinks he's incapable of that emotion. VERDICT Erotically specific yet emotionally touching and infinitely romantic, this electrically charged, danger-tinged romance deliciously concludes Laurens's "Bastion Club" series. Laurens (Temptation and Surrender) lives in Melbourne, Australia.

November 11, 2009: Stephanie Laurens is an excellent writer and it is great to read her books because they are not only romantic, hot and exciting. I also enjoy that characters from her books that are not the main character in that book have their own story at another time and book.

October 25, 2009: Leading up to this book, the impression you have been given throughout the series of this man did not come through in away in this book. It was quite a let down. The previous books about his underlings, had more back bone that he did. To find out in some manner that the aloof traitor was a relative so early in the book was disappointing. The only guessing was who, there was no suspense. I was confused as to where the plot really was, it was as if there were two stories written and made into one, leaving out the plot in both. Was the book about Dalziel or was it about Minerva. I expected to read a plot that left him calling in the guards, so to speak, planning and strategizing a resuce. Looking out over the land and saying the mill, well that was very quick and to the point. If anything this book seemed to be a poor rough drft that needed a lot of muscle and a little less fluff and sex to fill the pages. I truly hope the next book will be better.
