Martin is a farm kitten who likes mice but not for dinner. Martin likes mice as pets. He catches a pregnant female, Drusilla, and keeps her in a discarded bathtub. As Martin grows up he learns about friendship, loyalty and responsibility; he is shattered when Drusilla escapes at the first opportunity. But not until he, too, is taken from his outdoor life and imprisoned as a pet in a luxurious apartment does Martin perceive the true meaning of freedom. King-Smith adds another winner to his distinguished body of work. Dick King-Smith was born and raised in Gloucestershire, England, surrounded by pet animals. After twenty years as a farmer, he turned to teaching and then to writing children's books. Dick writes mostly about animals: farmyard fantasy, as he likes to call it, often about pigs, his special favorites. He enjoys writing for children, meeting the children who read his books, and knowing that they get enjoyment from what he does. Among his well-loved books is Babe, The Gallant Pig , which was recently made into a major motion picture, and was nominated for an Academy Award.
Dick currently lives with his wife in a small 17th-century cottage, about three miles from the house where he was born.

November 01, 2009: Have you ever wondered if a cat and a mouse can be friends? If so, this book has the answer! When farm cat Martin adopts a mouse called Drusilla as his pet, he is in for more than he imagined! Everything goes well until Drusilla becomes tired of living in the tub. Then, shortly afterward, she abandons Martin. Martin is sad and confused until he becomes a pet himself and realizes the importance of freedom and friendship. I recommend this book to anyone who likes cats, mice, or just likes cute animal stories.

February 15, 2007: martins mice is about a cat that dosn't eat mice but, when he was little his mom made him so he could start eating good food and he lives on a farm.he asked his mom if people eat cats because people eat cows, chicken, and pigs.she said they dont eat cats they only eat stupid animals. one day martin was up in a loft type thing. when he saw a creature creep around so he steped on it. it turned out to be a mouse he oh i am sorry. and he kept the mouse as a pet he would get food and water for her. she was a big fat mouse because she was pregnet. drusilla is the mices name. drusilla named her babies 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and 8. she wanted to have babies again so she told martin to go get her a buck mouse. he was confused. one day when martin caught her a buck he brought it back to the bathtub. she liked the buck mouse. when he went to go get them a meal. he came back and drusilla was missing out of the bath tub. he saw a black figure in the corner he thought it was a tomcat. so he said his mom dulcie maude would come beat him up. the tomcat reconized that name. for martin was his son. so he told him about the mouse thing.so he didnt bug the mice. drusilla liked the other mouse. one day the farmer was coming up the steps and had to think witch one he should get down first. he thought laddies and children first so he put drusilla down out of the bathtub. her husband was so scard . when the farmer came up he said good cat for eating the mice. martin was fight ting back and screamed at the farmer so the farmer let the cat be. when drusilla came out of the corner she got made because martin was licking her housband so she left martin and went out of the loft with her housband. one day martin ran into # 8 one of drusillas former childs. she told martin about the babies she had there was 3 girls so it worked out pefectly. so she could name the the months of the year becase she had 12 children. now find out the rest.
