October 24, 2009: Doreen Rappaport delivers the inspriring story of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in her touching and memorable book for young children. I believe this book is great for all ages, as the message of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. should be heard by all. The emphasis on the pages of the "big" words allows for young children to easily understand who Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was and what he dreamed for. Bryan Collier's illustrations are absolutely beautiful and add even more emotion to the reading experience. As a future teacher, I would definately use this book in my classroom, and feel it is appropriate for grades K-5. This biography would work especially well for younger students, as it is easy to read, and the message is clear. As a mother of 3, I will be sharing this book with my children. This book will be a great lead in for a conversation about civic responsibilty, and it demonstrates how one person really can make a difference.
