    Synopsis

John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wriggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.

Marley quickly grew into a barreling, ninety-seven-pound streamroller of a Labrador retriever. He crashed through screen doors, gouged through drywall, and stole women's undergarments. Obedience school did no good — Marley was expelled.

And yet his heart was pure. Just as Marley joyfully refused any limits on his behavior, his love and loyalty were boundless, too. A dog like no other, Marley remained steadfast, a model of devotion, even when his family was at its wit's end. Unconditional love, they would learn, comes in many forms.

The New York Times - Janet Maslin

Mr. Grogan knew the workings of Marley's mind. He makes that abundantly clear in Marley and Me, a very funny valentine to all those four-legged "big, dopey, playful galumphs that seemed to love life with a passion not often seen in this world." It's a book with intense but narrow appeal, strictly limited to anyone who has ever had, known or wanted a dog.

    Biography

After Philadelphia Inquirer columnist John Grogan wrote a tribute to his beloved pet of twelve years, the overwhelming response of readers prompted him to write the full story of Marley's colorful life. Grogan's heartfelt ode to the canine member of his family has become one of the most talked-about memoirs of the season.

February 07, 2010: The story of Marley And Me, is a very good book. It is about two newley weds who in desperation to have a family, get a dog to practice how they parent. Their dog becomes a wild, untaimed, but loyal pet. As the story progresses, they start their family. The have three kids in total, and their dog Marley. Throughout the 13 yaers with Marley, The Grogan family moves a lot. When it came time for them to put Marley down, the Grogans learned a lot from their experience. A dog is just a pet, but theres occasionally one that is irreplacable. You can learn from your dog to be selfless. You learn to live everyday as your last, and to enjoy love. What I loved about this book, was that I could relate to it. I love dogs and this is the perfect book for dog lovers, I had no dislikes to the book at all. I would recommend this book anyone who is coping with a family pet death, or loves stories of dogs and emotion. I would recommend this book to everyone. I rate this book as the best it can be rated.

December 16, 2009: John and Jenni are just your average day people that decide to buy a dog not knowing how much trouble he will cause. The book Marley and Me is based on a true story. The book is about living a life with a wonderful dog and has many facts on how to train a dog. If you are a fan of dogs or you need a little information about training your dog I would recommend this book. The book is about a family of two that becomes a family of three, but not permanently. John and Jenni are just your average day Americans. Jenni can't keep plants alive so they debate on whether or not to buy a dog. They decide to and they fall in love with him and they name him Marley. After a while Jenni and John decide to take a trip to Ireland and they leave Marley with one of Jenni's friends from work. Marley destroys everything in the house and Jenni's friend is miserable while taking care of Marley. After they get back they decide to have a baby. After Jenni has the baby she forgets about Marley and spends all her time with the baby. Jenni is more sensitive after she has her baby. There was one point in time that she actually told John to get rid of Marley. As Marley gets older he most the time sleeps and when he gets to go out on walks he has to sit down and take a lot of breaks. At the end of the book Marley dies and his family misses him. In my opinion this book was full of action and I could relate to their life with Marley because my dog acts the same way. Marley and Me is a wonderful book filled with love and life with a wonderful dog.
