Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers has given generations of engineers quick access to essential information on topics ranging from mathematics, mechanics of solids and fluids, heat, fuels and furnaces, and machine elements...to power generation, materials handling, transportation, manufacturing processes, and much more. Now updated and expanded for today's engineering environment, the Eleventh Edition of this world-renowned resource contains new coverage of high-tech areas, including nanotechnology, electronics, and biotechnology.
Written by a team of over 160 experts, it provides clear, concise answers to thousands of mechanical engineering questions. Comprehensive and authoritative, the Eleventh Edition features:
Get Quick Access to Every Area of Mechanical Engineering:
Eugene A. Avallone is a consulting engineer with over 50 years of active practice in industry and academia.
Theodore Baumeister III was affiliated with E.I DuPont de Nemours & Company for many years in engineering & development. Since retirement he has been a computer programmer and consultant in Mechanical engineering.
Ali Sadegh is Director of the Center for AEDD, at City University of New York and a Mechanical Engineer.
The widely used reference first published in 1916 and most recently in 1987 here contains new and rewritten entries on gearing, autofacturing, HVAC, displacement pumps, vibration, computers, robotics, optics, ferrous and nonferrous materials, composites, fluid film bearings, gas turbines, incineration, industrial plants, and patents and trademarks. Arranged in such sections as mathematics, heat, strength of materials, machine elements, building construction and equipment, and power generation. The index is very detailed. May 26, 2009: A useful reference book to have if you are a student or professional. It covers a wide spectrum of subjects. If you focus on one specific subject, then this is not for you. My job requires looking up ASHRAE standards, fluid flow properties and more; this allows me to reference one book, rather than a shelf full. For students, this will have more information than you will probably need as a student, but it is a reference that you will be able to keep and uses in your career. There is also a CD version that is little less expensive. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have been updated recently.
There are two things that I do not like. First is the paper. It is thin, similar to what you find in bibles. Second is the size. The book is bulky, so it is not one that you will carry around.I Also Recommend: Mark's Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers on CD-ROM.
