From woolly mammoths to rocket ships, the marvels of a museum are more fun to explore when Maisy leads the way.
On a rainy-day visit to the museum, Maisy and her friends explore everything from dinosaurs to a moon exhibit, from vintage vehicles to a giant dollhouse to the food exhibit. There’s always something new (or old) to see at a museum, and for little readers, it’s good to have a friend like Maisy along for the adventure.
Maisy and her other animal friends visit a museum where they first see the bones of a dinosaur and fossilized eggs. Each page features things of interest as they tour the museum. The animals see a vintage car, an antique bicycle, and a double-decker bus. Next, they discover old toys, bugs, and statues of animals. Then the friends get to draw, play with puppets, and dress up in the costume room. All of the fun concludes with a lunch at the museum cafe. One of a series of "Maisy" books, this title is a good introduction for young children in understanding the purpose of a museum. They should gain knowledge of what an exhibit is, as the word is used throughout the story. The simple but informative format contains subjects that should appeal to the young and maintain their interest. The bold and bright illustrations make it easier for children two years and older to identify and enjoy the pictures. Reviewer: Vicki Foote
