      Annotation

Colleen Templeton spends a romantic summer before starting college working at Bobb's Lobster, sorting out her feelings for two possible boyfriends, and sharing a house with friends on the tiny Maine island she calls home.

      Kori L. Mullins - Children's Literature

College-bound Colleen Templeton finds herself in an adventurous situation when her parents leave her and her friends alone for the summer as they jet around Europe. Colleen acquires more than cash over the summer working for the tiny Maine island's restaurant, Bobb's Lobster. Life quickly becomes a soap opera when Colleen's old boyfriend, Evan—who she has had little contact with over the past year—shows up just as the flame of new romance is sparked with Ben, leaving her to juggle her friends, responsibilities, and loves. On top of all this, she is struggling to adhere to her parents rules, including "No BOY sleepovers." And just like in the television world, Colleen somehow manages to maintain her sanity and enjoy the excitement she is experiencing the summer before she embarks on her college years. The author has created a cute and fun "girly" read—perfect for reading on the beach (as the cover demonstrates so well). 2004, HarperCollins Publishers, Ages 12 up.
