    September 20, 2007: This book is well-organized and clear enough to make learning Spanish on your own a lot of fun. For starters, the book provides an introduction to Spanish grammar, followed by verb lists, exercises on forming sentences, and exercises on translation. I would recommend it to both beginners and to Spanish speakers looking for a refresher course or reference material. The author focuses quite a bit on cognates - the words that are similar in both Spanish and English - so you can build your vocabulary pretty quickly and easily. Also, this book addresses past tense before you get to the present tense, which is great for learning conversational Spanish. The exercises are also useful because they give you plenty of practice, plus the answers are provided so you can check on your progress. If you really want to make the most of this book, try using it with the Learning Spanish Like Crazy audio course. It will teach you a lot of spoken Spanish in a way that will help you retain everything you've read and learned in Madrigal's. I would highly recommend keeping this book on hand as a learning tool and as a reference for later on in your Spanish studies.

    July 18, 2006: This book helped me speak, read, and write in Spanish as if I was a native speaker! I completed the course in only 3 weeks. I couldn't put the book down.
