September 26, 2009: One of the most intriging of the series. It's all unfolding now...

So much better than the movieby artaud

March 23, 2009: These books are a great read aloud experience for pre-school age kids, whereas the film of them is a horrifying nightmare inducing experience. My five year old son looked forward to my reading a chapter or more every night for weeks, and spent many hours perusing the books on his own for their delightful illustrations. When we saw the film at the video store, he naturally wanted to see it. Fortunately, I watched it in advance, and have told him he needs to wait until he is older. The film capitalizes on the books more frightening characters (goblins, shape-shifting monsters) and pays little attention to the more charming, and more complex, creatures like fairies, dwarves and sprites. Protect little ones (and yourself) from this Hollywood fearmongering, and enjoy the imaginative journey only reading can provide.

    I Also Recommend: Ted.
