Synopsis

Kristi Bentz wants to write true crime. All she needs is that one case that will take her to the top. She finds it when she enrolls at All Saints College after learning that three troubled girls have disappeared in one term. When the bodies are found, all blood drained from their bodies, rumors abound that vampires are on the loose. Are they? Or is there a new serial killer in New Orleans - one more cunning than any that her father, Detective Rick Bentz, and his partner, Detective Reuben Montoya, have gone up against before?

Now, as Kristi gets deeper into her investigation, she crosses paths with a killer who has selected her for membership in a cult of death from which there is no escape . . .

Publishers Weekly

Reader Joyce Bean, who has also directed many audiobooks, does her best to add some subtlety and strength to Jackson's latest, but it's basically an uphill effort. The author's plotting and prose style remain workmanlike, and no amount of vocal skill can change that. Fans of Jackson's previous bestselling suspense novels will find her new effort more of the same. Kristi Bentz, a wounded 27-year-old who has already survived attacks by a serial killer, returns to her New Orleans college to find out why some of the current female students have gone missing. Kristi is determined to succeed as a true crime writer, although her father, a New Orleans police detective, warns her against it. Bean gives Kristi and the All Saints students understated Southern accents that help listeners easily identify various characters. Simultaneous release with the Kensington hardcover (Reviews, Feb. 25).

Phyllis Jackson - Bookworm, a book lover, 08/07/2008

I think this was quite a good book, it kept you guessing on who the killer was. I like Kristi and her Dad, New Orleans Dectective Rick Bentz and I enjoyed how Kristi hooked up with a former boyfriend, Jay. All of the characters held my interest. I thought the book had a lot of twists and turns. I am going to search out more of Lisa Jackson's books.

Also recommended: Guilty, Twisted, Exective Privlege, Blood Colony, Poltergeist.

Customer Rating for this product is 4 out of 5 Another wonderful book by Lisa Jackson
Tyara, an avid reader, 07/17/2008

This book was great. It had the twists and turns that Lisa does so well. The book had plenty of suspects that you are SURE did it but you're wrong. What a treat it was to read this. The only thing is I haven't read that she plans on coming back to Detective Rick Bentz as there are some unfinished issues at the end.
