In Living the Simple Life, simplicity expert Elaine St. James explains how to make simplifying a painless process whether you're just beginning to scale down or whether you think you can't get any simpler. In these pages, you'll discover how simplifying your life will: give you more time to play and to relax, make you more productive at work, unleash your creativity and open up new possibilities, and free up time for you to face the challenges you've been avoiding.
In Seeing and Believing: Religion and Values in the Movies, Harvard Divinity School's Margaret R. Miles explores the rich, but often neglected, relationship between religious questions and cinematic art. Through lively meditations on popular films as diverse as Jesus of Montreal, Thelma and Louise, Jungle Fever and Paris Is Burning, Miles fashions provocative readings of that intersection, taking the religious study of film to new and rather glorious heights. (Beacon, $25 240p ISBN 0-8070-030-8) Former businesswoman Elaine St. James, whose previous books, Simplify Your Life and Inner Simplicity, have over 475,000 copies in print, once again cries "Simplify!" in Living the Simple Life: 100 Steps to Scaling Down and Enjoying More. A pinch of Heloise and a dash of Buddha enliven her recipes. Book club sales to Rodale, BOMC, QPB and One Spirit. Second serial rights to Ladies' Home Journal. December 03, 2002: I have read 3 of Elaine's books and loved everyone of them. After reading this one, we sold our house, bought a smaller home in a better town, sold half of our junk, and I've changed careers. And we couldn't be happier! Some of the ideas are things you already know but just needed to be reminded of. Others are things I never realized but are so true. She just really gives you a blue print for scaling down and enjoying what is truely important in life..family, friends, free time!
