April 13, 2009: We bought this book and several other Disney Princess stories in advance of our Disney vacation. They were all the perfect length for a three year old and early reader, and engaging enough to introduce her to the Disney characters she would soon meet at the parks. It made the actual character visit more exciting, engaging and familiar for her. The story is also a good introduction to the movies and makes the villain - Ursula a little less intimidating when you're ready to explore Disney programs. Ariel is one of the more independent princesses and can be admired for her sense of adventure and desire to explore the unknown.
