      Biography

      Leo Lionni is the author and illustrator of four Caldecott Honor Books: Frederick, Swimmy, Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse, and Inch by Inch. He was honored in 2007 with the Society of Illustrators posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award. He was born in 1910 and died in 1999.

      September 03, 2007: A kind of metaphor for not judging one for their color. Also, a good book about liking someone for who they are and not what they are. Teaches color mixing as well.

      March 16, 2006: When my wife asked me to look for this for her classroom, I immediately knew what book it was and pictured it in my mind because I loved it so much when I went to storytime at the library... over 35 years ago! It was originally published in 1959, and remains a timeless classic.
