Purpose:The purpose is two-fold. First, the book fundamentally introduces readers to how and when the law intersects with healthcare. Second, it explains healthcare providers' legal areas of responsibility. These are vital objectives because healthcare is in a perpetual state of evolution. The book meets the objectives, offering practical approaches to healthcare law.
Audience:The author indicates this is suitable as a course textbook and a reference for practitioners. In addition, it is appropriate for a much broader audience, including risk managers, healthcare administrators, consultants, healthcare scholars, legal nurse consultants, case manager/discharge planners, utilization review managers, quality managers, healthcare project managers, bioethicists, healthcare auditors, and healthcare attorneys. The author has established himself as a trusted expert in the healthcare field and he is a Joint Commission surveyor, president of his own consulting firm, educator, and scholar.

The information is reliably accurate and objective. Once again, this edition rightfully deserves a permanent place on the bookshelves of today's healthcare innovators, thinkers, scholars, learners, and leaders.
