May 21, 2009: You never know what you might get  when an author decides to update a book. I've seen this done well and I've also more commonly seen this done poorly. However, the update to the Learning jQuery book is exceptional. If you already own the first edition, rest assured the second edition is worth the price of admission.
The book's highlights are:- Its gentle yet detailed introduction to jQuery and the concepts surrounding jQuery development- The writing skills of the authors! These geeks can code and write.- Appendix C, which gives additional information into the world of javascript closures (in both versions of the book)- The ground that is covered pertaining to jQuery development is exceptional due mostly to the carefully chosen code examples and several case study chapters (7, 8, 9).- Single code concepts that grow in order to introduce new concepts. As opposed to several segregated code examples for each concept.- The authors' broad vocabulary, example, circuitous. Which I had to look up.- Nice (new) overview of event delegation- Plugin development has its own chapter in this new version. Great improvement. If you don't currently own a jQuery book (or even if you do), then this book is the clear choice for learning jQuery.I Also Recommend: jQuery in Action.
