Nicky Epstein, one of today's hottest knitwear designers, has created a fabulous follow-up to last season's bestselling Knitting on the Edge. With hundreds of new and super edgings to try, it's a must-have in every knitting library.
Practically every knitted project needs an edging, and with her hit knitting reference, Knitting on the Edge, Nicky Epstein took the humble traditional rib to new heights. She now proudly presents a companion volume that's equally informative and rich in designs. Knitting Over the Edge takes the craft further, with more than 300 unusual edge combinations and shapings that will add a special, unique touch to any piece. The striking patterns will keep knitters of every level busy experimenting with different types of ties, loops, knots, braids, twists, bobbles and more. The topics explored in depth include cords, appliqués (such as flowers, leaves, hearts, and geometrics), color work, and a host of truly extraordinary corners, angles, bindings, and closures. A Selection of the Crafters Choice Book Club.
Knitwear designer Nicky Epstein has gained nationwide recognition for her informative workshops, her distinctive and innovative work, and her whimsical sense of style. She has authored numerous books including Knitting on the Edge, Crochet for Barbie Doll, and Knits for Barbie Doll. Her designs have also been featured in Vogue Knitting magazine, as well as many other publications, as well as on television and in art exhibitions.
Knitting on the Edge, Epstein's first collection of more than 300 decorative borders for knitting, is now joined by Knitting over the Edge, a collection of new border treatments that can be used for edges, used as decorative elements, or incorporated into the overall design of a garment. Each design comes with instructions and an illustrative full-color swatch. Patterns include unusual rib designs as well as cords, appliques, and a large section of stranded and intarsia edge treatments. Five illustrative projects (e.g., a beautiful beaded floral wrap with intarsia borders) complement the book. An excellent choice for large public libraries. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

February 20, 2006: What's the difference between 'home made' and 'hand knit'? It's the fit and 'finish' of the garment. The fit comes with experience, but the finish, like a flourish, changes the knitwear from something that looks good to a product that looks professionally designed and expensive--and that flourish is exactly what you'll get with 'Knitting Over the Edge'. Nicky's second reference book of beautifully photographed edging and 'finishes' expands the knitter's repetoire from simple fringes and lace to I-cords with knots, ties and floating 'donuts.' Nicky adds Intarsia (mixed color) edges in this book, along with flowers, leaves and roses that can be appliqued to the edges. A final section of 'Noveau' edges provide innovative, funky, and highly textured edging. Simple, straightforward instructions placed next to swatches of edging will be helpful to both the fairly new and experienced knitter. This is not a pattern book of finished garments, but a reference book containing edging swatches, designs and patterns. Nicky does provide several 'full' patterns of sample garments including the pink, rose fringed capelet featured on the cover of this beautiful book. Make your next knitted work, a work of art with edges of distinction! 'Knitting Over the Edge' and Nicky's first book 'Knitting On the Edge' will make that possible!
