    Synopsis

We begin with Alex Cross, the detective introduced in ALONG CAME A SPIDER. He's back, and this time it's personal. Alex's favorite niece, Naomi, a beautiful young woman, disappears from school at Duke University. The trail of evidence points to Wylie, a serial killer who takes sexual perversion to new heights.

"Casanova" works the East Coast, "The Gentleman Caller" works the West Coast, and these two serial killers might just be working together. Biography

Not making any bones about his bid for success, James Patterson once declared he wanted to be known as “the king of the page-turners.” While that may seem like a pretty grand ambition, Patterson is as worthy of that title as any author working today.

November 12, 2009: I've actually read a lot of Patterson's stuff, and while I find his usually find his material to be a little on the lighter side of the genre, this one always makes me double check the door locks.

November 10, 2009: An African-American detective and psychologist involves himself in a nationwide investigation when his niece is reported missing. Naomi Cross, a twenty-two year old law student at Duke University, was missing. Cross and the FBI have to solve this disturbing mystery before a cynical man kidnaps other women. Casanova is around every corner they turn, right in front of their eyes, but they have no idea who Casanova is. This novel contains everything exhilarating about thrillers: a versatile storyline, disturbing scenes, symbolism and a flicker of a love story.

Kate McTiernan escapes captivity of Casanova only to be burdened by his vengeance. Kate is able to work with Cross and the FBI enough to give them clues. At multiple points in the novel, either Cross or the FBI figures something out and thinks they have had an epiphany of truth. They think they discover Casanova's identity, only to be disappointed. Casanova is the portrait of a selfish man. His selfish acts disgust the world and Cross is the only man in the world who can outwit Casanova with help of some ironic coincidences. This thriller is psychologically, emotionally, physically, and morally fascinating.
