John, Paul, George & Ringo minutely traces the meteoric rise of the Beatles from 1960 to 1970 with detailed timelines of their day-to-day activities, fascinating photographs (many of them exceedingly rare), penetrating biographies of everyone associated with the spread of Beatlemania, and contemporary excerpts from London’s influential Daily Mail. This exhaustive record, which closely follows the four young lads as they rose from Liverpool obscurity to become universally acknowledged titans of pop music, is the most comprehensive account of the history of the Beatles ever published.
Tim Hill is the bestselling author of more than twenty books about popular culture and sport. John, Paul, George & Ringo is his fifth book about the world’s most famous band. His first book about the band, The Beatles: Unseen Archives, has become a worldwide bestseller since its publication in 2000. Born in Birmingham, England, Hill, who now lives in Devon, is currently working on a book charting the history of pop and rock music through the 1960s.

March 23, 2009: Obviously, some other people did not like this book and I was only average on some parts. But all in all, I felt it was a 4 star book just for the nostalgia value. I have always been a Beatles fan--was watching Ed Sullivan when they first came to America and thought they were so cool I would die (I was really really young). And I still think they are the best of the best. I liked this book because I felt it was fair to all four Beatles and did not favor one over the other. The pictures were great and the reading was easy and breezy. This is not for those looking for gossip or lurid examination of sex/drugs/rock & roll...it is a book their children could enjoy. And I think there are enough rip off, tell all books around (Anyone one feel offended? Good! Some people make their living off The Beatles who have never and will never even breathe the same air as them--it's pathetic). So, if you are a Beatles fan who wants to FEEL GOOD when reading about them instead of sad and ashamed, read this book.
