July 26, 2009: This is a great book if you are new to Java or been away from Java for a few years. The book has excellent examples that walk you through the topics of the chapter step by step. At the end of each chapter you will find vocabulary words and questions. The accompanying CD is a very good supplement.

December 04, 2008: This was my first JAVA BOOK I bought while being in college years ago when I first started learning java even though it was an earlier edition the CONCEPTS on this new book remain the same as the other one. I do recommend this book for the general public, and/or for students who may have a different book for their class so, they can use it as a supplemental tool. Again, this book is over $100 but, don't think in the price. You would rather focus, in the QUALITY this book offers if you indeed want to learn java. It is like having an excellent teacher versus a really bad one where you don't learn as much as you wish.
