Gresham, Lewis's stepson through his marriage to Joy Gresham (recounted in the play and film version of Shadowlands), here writes of Lewis's life and his own relationship with the writer. Although somewhat personal, the memoir does not cover any new ground or offer insight into their relationship. Instead, Gresham sticks to the facts of Lewis's life and never really lets the reader in on how his own life was affected by Lewis, what he learned from him, and what his life is like now having been his stepson. One can only hope that Gresham will eventually pen a more personal account. Still, this is a good purchase for general collections. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
