June 02, 2009: Into thin air was a well written account of the challenges of conquering the tallest peak in the world. In this review I would like to cover a few things, one of which is that the book did not go into great detail about the facts about the mountain, it was much more of the experience of the climb than the facts about it. It made the book a lot more fun to read. Although the characters in the book seem like they don't care about personal safety at times they still maintain a level of professionalism and never lose their composure.

Jon Krakauer is a very good author in my opinion; this book is by far my favorite book. It tells about the difficulty of climbing Everest, and about how much determination it takes. The book does not bore you with irrelevant accounts, nor does it wander off the subject.

The book starts off slow, but as it progresses it really picks up and becomes a very interesting and adventurous book. The book is very intense and you will not want to put it down, you will probably read the whole thing in one sitting if you make it far enough to get into the interesting part where they reach base camp and begin training. Up until that point the book is relatively boring, but you need to keep reading to get to the good stuff.
