December 27, 2001: I was amazed at how this author was so talented and could explain everything to make a costume so easily. There had to be a lot of research done on these Instant Period Costumes. They were all explained so well and down to the basics. The author explained how to make so many different Instant Period Costumes. Some of these I had never heard of since I've never been much of a History Buff. I have never known anyone with this kind of talent and can't imagine what it would be like. I have found that it is much cheaper to buy this book than to buy or rent costumes for parties during the year. There are so many different costumes that you can choose from and you can even come up with something on your own after reading this. You can make a costume and go to a party and everyone there will find it hard to believe you did this costume yourself. The instructions are so detailed and simple. I reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in costumes and also to anyone who isn't because it is so amazing how someone could come up with making something so extraordinary out of simple clothing and spending so little money to do it. This is one of the most interesting how to books I have ever read. A person doesn't have to have an interest in making costumes for this book to be interesting to them. I reccommend this book to anyone who who can appreciate a person like this author is.
