For nearly five years, Sarah Smiley has been entertaining readers of her syndicated newspaper column "Shore Duty" with tales of being a military wife and mother of three young boys. Now Smiley's best work is gathered in a 288-page paperback collection. The book includes forewords by Carol Leifer and Ward Carroll.
With commentary on everything from husbands who leave their lunch on top of their car to Amish Friendship Bread and why children are always bumping heads, Smiley's writing "is funny, smart and real," says Pulitzer Prize-winning humorist Dave Barry.
Sarah Smiley is a military wife, author and columnist. Sarah's column "Shore Duty" is syndicated to newspapers and magazines across the country. Sarah's first book, Going
Overboard, chronicles her life as a military wife. Most known for her accounts of raising three boys, Sarah's military writing embodies the non-traditional aspects of military
wives and brings to life an area long avoided by others in the military community. Sarah currently lives in Maine with her husband and three sons.

September 16, 2008: This is a great book full of hilarious stories from Sarah Smiley's life. Though it often relates the trials and tribulations of being a military spouse, I think it's a good read for anyone. I like that the essays are short and easy to read, so it's like sitting down with a friend who tells you funny anecdotes from her daily life. Sarah Smiley is a great author. I love all her work!

September 16, 2008: When I finished reading 'I'm Just Saying', I left the book lying on the coffee table in the living room and after a few days I realized it was missing. I finally found it lying next to my teenage daughters bed. We started talking about some of the accounts of Sarah Smiley and her family which ultimately led to a hilarious comparison of the goings on in our family life. This book is something that so many people can relate to and enjoy. I just gave a copy to my mom and I can't wait to sit down with a cup of coffee and discuss it with her!
