GEOFFREY WIGODER (General Editor) received his Doctor of Philosophy at Oxford University. The major accomplishments of this famed scholar are almost too numerous to name. He served as the editor-in-chief of the 16-volume Encyclopedia Judaica; co-edited The New Standard Jewish Encyclopedia; edited A Dictionary of Christian-Jewish Dialogue; and was the founding editor of Dialogues, a newsletter devoted to interfaith discussions among Christians, Jews, and Muslims.
SHALOM M. PAUL (Editor, Old Testament) received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, Professor of Bible at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, has also taught Bible at the Jewish Theological Seminary, New York; Spertus College in Chicago; the University of California, San Diego; Tel Aviv University and Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He was editor of The Bible and Civilization and Biblical Archaeology. Among his other publications are Studies in the Book of the Covenant in the Light of Cuneiform and Biblical Law, and many scholarly articles on the Bible and the ancient Near East.
BENEDICT T. VIVIANO, O.P. (Editor, New Testament) received degrees in philosophy and theology from the Aquinas Institute, River Forest, Illinois; the Pontifical Bible Institute, Rome; and Duke University. He has written extensively and is currently professor of New Testament at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.
EPHRAIM STERN (Editor, Biblical Archaeology) received his Ph.D. from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, where he chairs the Institute of Archaeology. He authored Archaeology of the Land of the Bible, Volume 2 and was a major contributor to the 4-volume New Encyclopedia of Archaeological Excavations in the Holy Land. . A world-renowned archaeologist, he has directed excavations of sites such as Tel Mevorakh and Tel Dor and participated in many others such as Hazor, Masada, and Beersheba.
SHIMON GIBSON (Editor, New Edition) is a British-born archaeologist who completed his PhD requirements at the Institute of Archaeology in London.. He is the author of more than one hundred research articles, the co-author of two scientific monographs on the antiquities of Jerusalem, co-editor of the Archaeological Encyclopedia of the Holy Land, and is the author of a book on nineteenth-century photographs of Jerusalem and the headline-making book, The Cave of John the Baptist. As a field archaeologist, he has directed numerous digs and is currently in charge of excavations at Jerusalem's Mount Zion.

November 20, 2005: I bought this as a gift for my sister, and ended up getting one for myself, too. It's over 1,000 pages and is very complete.
