    Synopsis

In what has become a classic work, Richard M. Weaver unsparingly diagnoses the ills of our age and offers a realistic remedy. He asserts that the world is intelligible, and that man is free. The catastrophes of our age are the product not of necessity but of unintelligent choice. A cure, he submits, is possible. It lies in the right use of man's reason, in the renewed acceptance of an absolute reality, and in the recognition that ideas—like actions—have consequences.

    Annotation

English professor and farmer Richard Weaver claims that the catastrophes of our age are the product of unintelligent choice, and the cure lies in man's recognition that ideas--like actions--have consequences. 5 cassettes.

    Excellent. Uncannily Prophetic.by Anonymous

May 26, 2003: I picked up Ideas Have Consequences just browsing and it is one of the most valued finds I have. Weaver was a philosophical genius and a brilliant writer. Though written in the late 40's, the material seems to apply to this time and situation. The ideas within are very much timeless. Weaver does a good deal to cut through to the core issues of the health of the mind of the individual and the society.
