    Laurie Selwyn - Library Journal

Author and reader White, corecipient of the 1997 Nobel® Peace Prize, here shares his personal crises (among them, losing his leg in an accident) as well as those of his friends, family members, and celebrities (from athlete Lance Armstrong to the late Princess Diana), focusing on the ways in which they've successfully rebounded. White's five-step coping technique contains references to God, tough love, and the Bible. With a clear, distinctive, and emotive but even voice, White's reading is well paced; his female voices are especially convincing. Recommended for public and inspirational libraries. February 11, 2009: Easy read, yet powerful content. I appreciated the varied and numerous people and situations with whom Jerry White discussed crisis and difficult times. As a chaplain, I find this book helpful and quick on my recommendation list when asked what might help a patient through difficult times.

August 19, 2008: Short read that is more than worth it. An enjoyable mix of a very practical guide and powerful personal accounts. Even though I was not going through a similar personal crisis while reading, I wish I had this during some challenging periods of life. I'm sure it will help me through crises yet to come!
