January 08, 2000: Only a book by the muse of comedy could come close to helping younger comedy students to understand the background of the grandfather of alternative Stand-up. This novel gives clear insights into Bruce's background, relying on a number of experiences, some gained whilst young, others in the Navy. Whilst elucidating on the generic source of his material, he does not inform on the painful aspects of later relationships, entertaining with trial script, legal arguments and observation. Little comment does he provide on his addictions in his life, but buy the book and see the film for that! A must for any comedy historian!
