March 11, 2002: I haven't read all the framing books out there, but this one seems very complete and is definitely helpful. I covers all the basics of matting and framing and gets into details about equipment, which I appreciated. Excellent tips have aided my framemaking such as using a 10 oz. claw hammer vs the standard 16 oz., mounting tools such as the miter box on boards and securing the mounted tool to a Workmate, etc. My one complaint is that the author's step-by-step instructions are not always completely clear. (cutting moulding into frame sides) Altogether, though, this is a highly recommended book.
