A fresh take and indispensable kitchen companion on kosher cooking, for the legions of Jews and others who follow or aspire to adopt Jewish dietary laws
But for the title, a glance through this book's wide-ranging recipes would never give away that they're kosher. Kosher cooks new to the kitchen-as well as those new to keeping kosher-who want more than the standard Jewish fare will cheer at seeing the array of classy alternatives: pumpkin bisque instead of chicken soup; arepas rather than latkes; Mexican hot chocolate brownies, not halvah. And they can make everything with the confidence that it will adhere to dietary laws: Fein provides a comprehensive yet readable explanation of their principles, and all the dishes are composed to ensure they pass. October 26, 2009: This cookbook is great for basic recipes. It's kind of a "Rachel Ray for Kosher food." The recipes are easy to follow, tasty and the tips are very helpful.

May 20, 2009: This is unlike any other kosher cookbook I have. The recipes are not the usual recipes that you find in other kosher books. They are smart and also varied and are recipes for the kind of food we like to eat all the time. I have used this book for some time now and have made many of the recipes. They are easy and so many of them are so short that I can make them during the week. I also find that there are a million helpful sidebars. I have given this book as a gift and got lots of thank yous from people. A definite keeper but also a definite one to use frequently. If you buy this, use it. Don't store it away on you bookshelf.
