      Synopsis

Now in paperback, a picture book, told from a child's perspective, about what to expect when Mom's expecting.

      Annotation

A young boy describes how a new baby is growing inside his mommy and tells what it is like when his new sister comes home from the hospital.

      Sesame Street Parents

What distinguishes this new book from many others on the subject is its abundance of factual information for preschoolers. A little boy talks about the baby growing in Mommy's body, in a place called the womb. At the doctor's office he listens to the baby's heartbeat and looks at a chart to see how a baby grows. And on the day his sister comes home, he helps Daddy bathe her. The details regarding pregnancy, the warm tone, and the bright pictures make this a really rewarding book to read and talk about with your child when you are expecting.

June 29, 2009: I used this book for my for my daughter who will almost be two when she becomes a sister. She had gone through a stage where she didn't like the word "baby" anymore and wouldn't talk about it. She liked the pictures and started asking for the book to be read over and over again (I finally put it away because I was reading it so much!). It has helped her get used to the "baby in mommy's belly" idea again. She will now talk about it again and it really seems to have helped. I like the technical descriptions and that it uses the correct anatomical words in the descriptions. The descriptions were definitely way over her head, but it didn't phase her at all.

Great for two year olds!by Anonymous

August 07, 2008: This is a GREAT book to help your toddler conceptualize that there really is a baby in mommy's growning bump and what life will be like during pregnancy and after. My son loves this book, especially the parts when the baby cries. The illustrations are great.
