Synopsis

Lucy Hatch is a homegrown, red-dirt, East Texas girl, not at all suited for the fast life her husband was living in Nashville. Now she’s back in the small town of Mooney, working at Faye’s Flower Shop, and raising her young son with help from family and friends. Her life has finally stopped resembling a Hank Williams song . . . until she wakes up one morning to find a shiny white pickup parked in her yard. The worn-out cowboy boots sticking out the window tell her that the man sleeping inside is her husband: Ash Farrell’s back in town.

Now Mooney’s favorite son is making promises, vowing to change, and wreaking havoc on the peace Lucy’s worked so hard to find. She wants to believe that her handsome husband is serious about straightening up, but can a charmer like Ash really change?

Marsha Moyer brings colorful storytelling, a wonderful sense of humor, and an undeniable Southern flavor to Heartbreak Town, a novel of small-town life, big-time success, and a once-in-a-lifetime love worth fighting for after all.

Publishers Weekly

The latest installment of this chick lit with a drawl series from Moyer finds Lucy Hatch, the sassy East Texan, back home in Mooney after fleeing Nashville and her country crooner hubby, Ash Farrell. But just when Lucy's settling into her old job at the flower shop and new life as a single mom, Ash roars into town in a rainstorm, on the run from rehab with a wounded heart, shattered dreams and a trashy trailer that he parks in Lucy's yard. Oddball characters in the extended Hatch clan keep this sweet soaper bubbling along, and a subplot featuring Ash's grown daughter, Denny, an aspiring country singer and stupid-in-love newlywed, hints of sequels to come. Moyer makes Lucy's coming-of-middle-age love story unabashedly raw and messily real. (June)

June 25, 2007: Lucy Hatch and Ash Farrell fell in love and married. They left East Texas for his career as a country singer in Nashville. However, she hated the big city and finally Ash?s ?Juicy Lucy? left him behind in Tennessee to return to her hometown of Mooney. There she works at Faye?s Flower Shop and raises their young son Jude although her family and neighbors help her.---------- However, she wakes up to a trailer parked in her yard with cowboy boots on the window sill. Lucy knows that Ash is parked outside, but is unsure of why he is here in Mooney. Ash swears he has changed as he has missed her and his Hey Jude, but in reality he is fleeing from himself as his dreams have been nuked by her leaving him and his use of drugs. He vows to stay parked in his wife?s yard forever if need be because he wants a second chance she wants to say yes, but has doubts that the charmer has changed.---------- The key to this second chance at love tale is the red dirt that middle age Lucy and Ash seem to wallow in as their relationship is filled with difficult issues that do not magically vanish with a kiss. The eccentric cast augments the entertaining story line as they either matchmake or intrude on Ash?s efforts to win back the love of his life. Contemporary fans will enjoy this fine tale as ?the yellow rose of Texas beats the belles of Tennessee?.-------------- Harriet Klausner
