Dr. Jerry Kartzinel and Jenny McCarthy have put together the first book that will give parents all the necessary information about the Defeat Autism Now (DAN) school of treating autism. Beginning with diagnosis, Dr. Kartzinel will show parents how to make simple changes to their child’s environment and diet that are safe and easy for parents to try at home and that can result in marked improvements for autistic children. He will also explain some of the more advanced therapies that DAN doctors use and the way that parents, alongside a qualified medical professional, can determine whether or not such treatments would benefit their child.

December 05, 2009: We've been doing biomed for 4.5 years and it's nice to see another doctor's perspective and protocols. We find this a useful reference book for our son's care and enabled us to look into avenues we have not yet explored. I just wish it didn't read like an infomercial in some chapters.

August 01, 2009: Our youngest son (age 10) has an Aspergers diagnosis and is currently working with several therapists. My husband purchased this book and found it very informative and helpful our son saw it and was very offended by the idea that he needed to be "cured" from something...he said it made him angry and that he didn't need to be "cured" he just needed some help learning how to manage himself but that he was "just him" and wouldn't want to be any different. I was really surprised by his comments, very adult comments for a 10 year old boy, but I have ready that there are many adults with Aspergers who feel the same way. However I think there are alot of good points made by this book and really great information for new parents especially. I think that in some cases Autism spectrum disorders are genetic but in a vast number of cases are preventable and are caused by an outside source after birth. All in all a really great read for any parent.
