November 02, 2009: Hatchet
Gary Paulsen Scholastic Inc.Fiction Could you imagine what Brian Robeson felt like in the Canada wilderness all by himself with only a hatchet that his mother gave him when he was at the air port going to see his farther? brian was on his way to Canada to see his father. He was in a bush plane with a pilot that had a hart attack at altitude of 7000 feet and Brian had to try to fly the plane by him self. Brian landed in a lake in the middle of the woods and he was able to get out but he was hurt badly. After two days without shelter he made a make shift camp on a ridge by the lake. Gary Paulsen is the man who brought the book Hatchet to life along with many other books about Brian Robeson. The character in the book is Brian because he's the only one in the woods. Brian is an only child of his family, his mom and dad are separated. Brian is a 14 year old teen and is very smart but in the woods, not so much. He depends on the TV he watches about the animals in woods and survival. Brian is cool in tough times and takes his time in the woods like trying to kill a fool bird that is easy but hard at the same time. Well Brian's mom and dad are separating and brian feels so said and he feels its his fault. Well this book is the best book I have ever read,if you like a book that keeps you wanting to read and keeps you on your toes, you need to read this book. It's said, funny, cool ,outdoorsy and it is an adventure book, if you like those you need to read this book. Also, the book is not true but it puts you in Brian's spot and makes you him. The book, is a Newbery Honor Book well that must tell you something? Gary Paulsen brought this book to life and he will bring in many more good books to us.Reader Rating:
