January 08, 2009: I think that Hatchet has been the best book i have ever read. I am one of those people who don't read unless i find a book that i have a high interest from. I am interested in the outdoors and am interested in books about survival. Gary Pausen is my favorite author. Another thing i loved about Hatchet is that it is a true story. I read reviews where people thought there nedded to be more characters, but in my opinion in survival if you are alone there are no other characters.

December 11, 2008: Hatchet is about a boy that is going to visit his father that works in the Canadian oil fields. On his way there his pilot has a heart attack and dies. The boy flies the plain until it runs out of gas and crashes into a lake. During his recovery he think that he will get rescued in a day or two but that is not the case. He builds him a shelter and uses what he has a round him to survive.
I think Hatchet has manly one theme. The theme is never give up, never give in. That is what I think the theme is this because when he was in the wood one day he was giving into the area he was because he is getting the idea that no one is going to find him so he is trying to cut his wrist with his hatchet and something hits him that it was a stupid idea to try to kill himself. So he got on with his day.
I think it was a great book because I like the genre of the book. The genre of the book is survival. I like to read survival books because I like the ruse of the happenings.
