Don't miss the seventh and final book in J.K. Rowling's bestselling Harry Potter series!
J. K. Rowling's monumental, spellbinding epic, 10 years in the making, is deeply rooted in traditional literature and Hollywood sagasfrom the Greek myths to Dickens and Tolkien to "Star Wars." And true to its roots, it ends not with modernist, "Soprano"-esque equivocation, but with good old-fashioned closure: a big-screen, heart-racing, bone-chilling confrontation and an epilogue that clearly lays out people's fates. Getting to the finish line is not seamlessthe last part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final book in the series, has some lumpy passages of exposition and a couple of clunky detoursbut the overall conclusion and its determination of the main characters' story lines possess a convincing inevitability that make some of the prepublication speculation seem curiously blinkered in retrospect.
More Reviews and RecommendationsA phenomenon like Harry Potter does not come along very often. November 05, 2009: Your worst enemy is trying to kill you and there is many innocent people dying on your behalf. What would you do in this situation? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the last book of a seven book series and it is just marvelous! It has immense action throughout the whole book that describes how Harry Potter himself handles this entire stressful situation. It is full of surprises that will leave you mouth opened! (Hint: Just watch it with the flies) It is a book that you will not be able to put down after you have started to read it. I advice everyone to read all the books before reading the last one because there are many thing you may not understand. There are situation that tie in from the first book to the last and it is very hard if you do not have knowledge of them to begin with. It took J.K. Rowling about a decade to be able to finish her whole series. She did just GREAT. I give her props for lasting so long to do such a good job and for giving her fan readers a fine trip to such an awesome magical world. All in all, I recommend everyone to read this book along with all the series. Trust me, you will not regret reading the series of Harry Potter for it is just breathtaking amazing!

October 29, 2009: WOW!!! This book was so wonderfully written. JK Rowling certainly can tell a wonderful story. I started reading the series with Year 6, The Half Blood Prince and I read the rest of the series starting with Year 1 and continuing until I reached Year 7, The Deathly Hallows. That was from June until late September/early October. Having been a fan of the movies, I figured I would take my Niece's advice and read the books. All of them were wonderful and very difficult to put down. I am currently going through Harry Potter withdrawls, now that I've finished them.
Deathly Hallows was the second best of the series, I felt that Half Blood Prince was the best. Jk Rowling does a wonderful job in Hallows continuing the story of Harry Potter and his friends in their struggle to defeat "He who must not be named". You will learn more about Harry's past, beyond how his parents were killed. Especially a certain ancestor that explains how the invisiblity cloak found its way into the Potter Family. You as the reader, figure out how good of a wizard he has become, even though Harry would not agree. I found it interesting in the beginning of the book when Harry says farewell to the Dursleys, that Aunt Petunia knows more about the magical world than she let on. Makes you wonder if maybe she may have shown some small amount of promise? I think deep down she has always cared for Harry, after all he is her sisters son. Speaking of caring for Harry, I also got the impression that Severus Snape had a soft spot for "The boy that lived". It is revealed in the book ,through Snape's memories, we find out he was in love with Lily since childhood. There are other revelations through out the book that help explain events of the past and present. There is a scene where Hermione and Ron FINALLY share a kiss!! At several points through this wonderful book, I found my self teary eyed when certain events happened. This wonderful book takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, your pulse will race, you will chuckle or laugh out loud, have tears of sorrow and joy, you will hold your breath and gasp. JK Rowling will lull you into a false sense of security after another narrow escape.. and then like hitting the readers with the stupefy curse something else knocks you for a loop. I must confess, before I purchased the book, I skimmed the last chapter because I had to know who won after seeing Half Blood Prince in the theatre. The final battle scene between Harry and Lord Voldermort was outstanding. The arch enemies square off in a battle to the death, each in turn stating why they have the upper hand in the battle. They walk in a circle opposite each other in the Great Hall in Hogwarts waiting for the most opportune moment to strike. They rip into each other verbally as the tension builds before they decide to end the confrontation. (This is a pulse racing, hold your breath and gasp moment)Having always been a fan of the Harry Potter series of movies, but now I may be a slightly larger fan of the series of books. Only because the books are able to tell the story in greater detail that the time constraint of the movies does not allow. It was sad in a way to see this wonderful story come to its amazing conclusion. I know it had to end at some point. I'm sure that if Ms Rowling ever decides to sit down and start writing again, the story she will decide to tell will be just as wonderful as she has a...
