    Synopsis

The eagerly anticipated sequel to the astounding smash hit Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is finally here! No need to wait — Harry's back for his second year at Hogwarts, where the infamous Chamber of Secrets has been opened for the first time in 50 years. The monster that is unleashed is literally petrifying Hogwarts students (turning them into stone, that is), and who is the primary suspect? Harry Potter himself. Add to this some enormous spiders, a Deathday Party, a ghost named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and lots and lots of suspense, and you'll soon find yourself engrossed in another terrific tale in which magic does exist and good eventually triumphs over evil.

    Annotation

When the Chamber of Secrets is opened again at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, second-year student Harry Potter finds himself in danger from a dark power that has once more been released on the school.

    Children's Literature

In this eagerly awaited sequel to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter returns for his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after surviving a dreadful summer with his muggle/human relatives the Dursleys. Harry, along with his friends Ron and Hermione, confronts another mystery involving an evil force emanating from a chamber of secrets below the school. Clues include a flying car, a book written in invisible ink that takes Harry into the past, and a ghost in a bathroom. To solve the mystery and save the school from closure and Hagrid from jail, Harry must confront his long feared nemesis Voldemort. Children and adults alike will revel in this splendid continuation of Harry Potter's adventures.

November 19, 2009: I just recently read the book Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. This book has an exciting story line with an equally exciting writer that has a lot of imagination! 12-year-old Harry Potter lived with his mean, muggle Aunt Petunia, Uncle Vernon and worst, his Cousin Dudley. Harry had discovered last year that he was a wizard! Last year Harry went to Hogwarts, the school of witchcraft and wizardry for the first time! Harry loathed to go back to Hogwarts but will that happen when Uncle Vernon puts bars on his window? Reading the artistic work of J.K Rowling I mean she practically invented the game of quidditch, she thought up a monster that kills anyone that looks at its eyes, and made a teacher that won the most charming smile award 5 times for witch weekly. I recommend this book for ages 8-15. Read this book and enjoy it!
