Synopsis

The eagerly anticipated sequel to the astounding smash hit Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is finally here! No need to wait — Harry's back for his second year at Hogwarts, where the infamous Chamber of Secrets has been opened for the first time in 50 years. The monster that is unleashed is literally petrifying Hogwarts students (turning them into stone, that is), and who is the primary suspect? Harry Potter himself. Add to this some enormous spiders, a Deathday Party, a ghost named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and lots and lots of suspense, and you'll soon find yourself engrossed in another terrific tale in which magic does exist and good eventually triumphs over evil.

Annotation

When the Chamber of Secrets is opened again at the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, second-year student Harry Potter finds himself in danger from a dark power that has once more been released on the school.

Children's Literature

Harry, along with his friends Ron and Hermione, confronts another mystery involving an evil force emanating from a chamber of secrets below the school. Clues include a flying car, a book written in invisible ink that takes Harry into the past, and a ghost in a bathroom. To solve the mystery and save the school from closure and Hagrid from jail, Harry must confront his long feared nemesis Voldemort. Children and adults alike will revel in this splendid continuation of Harry Potter's adventures.

Fantasy

Imagine not knowing your parents, who they were or how they died. Imagine being famous for surviving the deadliest encounter ever and not even knowing it. Imagine being treated like dirt for 10 years. That was the life of 11 year old Harry Potter until he got a letter from the most famous school of witchcraft and wizardry in the world, Hogwarts. In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second in J.K. Rowling's seven book series, Harry is 12 and has just starting his second year at Hogwarts when he's already having problems. One of his classmates has been petrified and together with his friends, Ron and Hermione he must find out who, or what did this. Hermione soon finds out that the person is really a Basilisk, a monster snake with a killer stare. After finding where the basilisk hides, Harry fights the monster and lord Voldemort, the man who killed Harry's parents and tried to kill him. Can he face his fears and win?

Harry is a courageous boy at the age of 12 and in his second year at Hogwarts he is also quite curious and mischievous. He is always happy and energetic unless his friends,Hermione, Ron, and Hagrid, are in trouble then he gets serious. Ron is a short boy with flaming red hair and the second youngest in a family of eight. Ron is loyal, friendly, curious, and easily frightened by mysterious things. Hermione is a young girl with very poofy brown hair and the daughter of muggles (people who don't know magic). She is the smartest of her class and even her grade. When she is confused she looks to books for the answer. Although very loyal to Ron and Harry, she rarely listens to them and often does things her own way.

Harry Potter And The Chamber of secrets is worth reading in your spare time and never lets you go from the second you open the book. The characters are a perfect match to the story's plot and every little detail paints a perfect image of the story in your mind. J.K. Rowling wrote this book with people of all ages in mind and since 1999 it's been read by people all over the world. You should read this if you like action and adventure, and reading this is an adventure all its own.
