Textbook (Paperback - Seventh Edition)
Textbook Information
Addressing the rapid developments that shape the field of cardiac catheterization, this edition of Grossman's Cardiac Catheterization, Angiography, and Intervention covers theoretical, technical, and clinical issues in a clear and concise text. This edition includes three new chapters--Angiography of the Aorta and Peripheral Vessels, Peripheral Arterial Intervention, and Profiles in Aortic and Peripheral Vascular Disease--plus a new section on radiation safety. Considered "...the most respected reference in the field" by Doody Publishing and "...a benchmark for information about cardiac catheterization and its applications" by Journal of Community Health, this volume teaches everything you need to know about the changing role of cardiac catheterization. Includes an attached CD-ROM.
The book contains black-and-white illustrations.
This sixth edition of a monograph describing all aspects of the procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization laboratory for the first time includes a CD-ROM, a much-needed supplement for a book that, for most part, deals with dynamic phenomena and procedures. The book is addressed to cardiology fellows and support staff with the objective to educate in methods and different techniques used to diagnose and treat a variety of cardiovascular diseases. It is the most comprehensive and still concise textbook covering this field. The authors are very modest to suggest that the target audience is fellows in cardiology and support staff. This is a must for every invasive, interventional cardiologist, not to mention every facility where these procedures are performed. The senior editors are world authorities on the subject and the contributing authors are of no lesser caliber. The book is divided into seven sections that are abundant with relevant information. Each chapter is well presented. Equal detail is used to describe routine procedures and rarely performed procedures, like brachial cutdown or apical puncture. To compare with previous editions, relevant subjects outlining complications of cardiac catheterization are included. Newer techniques -- puncture closure devices, intravascular ultrasound, and evaluation of myocardial flow -- have been added and expanded. New trends in practice of invasive cardiology are acknowledged by adding chapters on peripheral angiography and intervention, addressing a vascular part of our cardiovascular specialty. Previously excellent chapters on the transeptal approach and the profiles of specific disorders, among others, have been thoroughly enrichedand expanded. This is an excellent textbook which only gets better with each edition. It mirrors the direction of the ever-changing field of invasive and interventional cardiology thanks to the wonderful efforts of editors.

April 21, 2009: I am a nurse new to the Cardiac Cath Lab. I was looking to gain more knowledge of the subject. This book is great as a stand alone text. I think I would enjoy to see a smaller heard cover edition made.
