In a great green room, tucked away in bed, is a little bunny. "Goodnight room, goodnight moon." And to all the familiar things in the softly lit room--to the picture of the three little bears sitting in chairs, to the clocks and his socks, to the mittens and the kittens, to everything one by one--he says goodnight.
In this classic of modern children's literature, beloved by generations of readers and listeners, the quiet poetry of the words and the gentle, lulling illustrations combine to make a perfect book for the end of the day.
A little rabbit bids goodnight to each familiar thing in his moonlit room. Rhythmic, gently lulling words combined with warm and equally lulling pictures make this beloved classic an ideal bedtime book.
More Reviews and RecommendationsWhat child hasn’t been lulled to sleep -- or at least comforted -- by the gentle rhymes of Margaret Wise Brown’s classic Goodnight Moon? Brown, a former teacher, believed that very young children could be fascinated in the simple pleasures of the world around them, and created some of the most enduring and beloved children’s books of all time.

July 04, 2009: I give this book to almost every new baby. It is the lovliest bedtime book out there for the nightly ritual. I gave this one, in the board book format for chewing by a little one, at a baby shower for mom and grandma. They got 2 copies as it happens, one for each house. The simple but colorful illustrations and the soothing words are just right for the youngest babies to grow up with.

June 08, 2009: This was my 18 year old son's favorite and the younger kids in the family love it as well. It's easy enough for the kids to memorize and read along with you but the illustrations and their detail (find the mouse hiding on the page) are the real treasure.
