It's great strength is its projection of a complex, emotional universe onto an intimate canvas. The details, like the world of colors that Vermeer found in a single fold of white cloth, add up to more than the sum of their parts.

July 09, 2009: I had to read Girl With A Pearl Earring over the summer for school, and I thought it was well written and well planned out. Tracy Chevalier has come up with a beautiful story for a wonderfully mysterious peice of art, and fiction and nonfiction blend seamlessly. Griet's final decision surprised me, but it still left me satisfied. I suggest Girl With A Pearl Earring to anyone willing to read a historic novel.

June 20, 2009: This book is really interesting and the plot is very unique. It's based on the painting by Vermeer and the book fits the painting as well. The characters are well developed and they're all different in some way. You should definitely read it!
