Is destiny keeping them apart or bringing them together?
Driven, altruistic Eden Barrett yearns to bring about social reform using her artistic talent. Unaware of the enemies lurking in her future, when her initial plans go awry, she finds employment as a governess, hoping to continue to hone her talent in her free time. Eden immediately defies tradition when she rescues two climbing boys and houses them on the estate of her new employer. A man of integrity, like-minded in all but one insurmountable aspect, Colin Ashton, Seventh Earl of Edmund, finds the sparks flying as he matches wits with the new governess to his high-spirited, precocious, and controlling sister. He would fire Eden if not for his sister's pleas on her behalf. Eden spurns marriage as a sure way for a female in her society to become a slave to the will of another. Fully aware, though, that her will and his do not agree and that he is far above her station, she is helplessly drawn to the capable lord. It seems his interest is in a beautiful neighbor, The Honorable Cassandra Bradley, whose brother is obviously taken with Eden. Lives will be transformed in their unforgettable journey of adventure, passionate emotions, and enduring love.

June 05, 2007: This uplifting work is a refreshing read on many levels. Aside from being well written and interesting, it?s well researched and historically accurate. Believable characters draw the reader into a multifaceted, exciting tale that is sure to satisfy. Throughout, the strong, confident heroine successfully conveys her conviction in an all-loving God. She leaves her `fate? completely in His hands while others, including the object of her affection, challenge her beliefs. The author cleverly reveals Christian values and truths without being `preachy?. This noble work would entertain a wide audience and is truly a `gentle journey?. Readers will be able to identify with and cheer on the characters as they `travel? through. A delight that won?t disappoint! Hope for more by this author!

January 02, 2007: This beautiful story far surpases its back cover description. Its a mixture of adventure, romance, wit, and wisdom. It is well researched with historical facts and description used to season this character driven story. The characters are well fleshed out, interesting, likeable and believable - even the villains. There is so much meat in this book, I intend to let it digest awhile before returning to it to consume it again. Best of all is the immediate and sustained chemestry between the hero and heroine. Lord Edmund is all man and Eden is all wit, warmth, and spunk. I loved it. Didn't want it to end. Hope there will be a sequel -perhaps with Lord Edmund's sister Diana all grown up at her season.
