Norman Pellett was raised on a market garden farm in western Iowa. He received a BS in horticulture from Iowa State University, and a MS and PhD in horticultural science from the University of Minnesota. He is Professor Emeritus, University of Vermont, where he taught horticulture, provided extension education, and conducted research for 29 years. Pellett enjoys vegetable, flower and landscape gardening at his home in Vermont.

January 19, 2009: When I'm bored with the weary winter, I pull out Norman Pellet's Gardner's Quiz Book for inspiration and a laugh. It keeps me in touch with the growing season and inspires me to learn more about my immediate environment and give more thought to what I can sustain in my own back yard. The Gardner's Quiz Book is entertaining and wildly informative, and answers all the questions that have lingered in the back of my dormant brain. Bet you don't know what the best qualities are for a winter ground cover, but Norman does, and he tells you in his book. Check it out!

January 07, 2009: In this age of increasing Localvores and home gardening to stretch a budget I think this is a helpful little book. It introduces and presents knowledge in an easy to learn style. The author's little jokes make it fun to read and study. It is going to improve the gardens of many folks, including my own.
