    Synopsis

Scientists in a secret underwater habitat are mining the solid methane beneath the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. An eco-terrorist’s sabotage floods the ocean and atmosphere with toxic methane. The billionaire, his brilliant and beautiful security chief, and a pessimistic scientist who has engineered a methane-eating microbe are the world’s only hope.

    Publishers Weekly

Meteorologist Evans and technical writer Jameson have fashioned a sprawling techno-thriller involving a nutty billionaire who plans to profit by extracting poisonous methane from under the ocean floor and even nuttier ecoterrorists who want to release it into the water and atmosphere and kill everybody. The scientific and technological aspects of the yarn are sufficiently credible, but the prose and character development is amateurish and clumsy. Peter Larkin might have helped by adding a little light playfulness. Instead he makes things worse by treating the purple prose and tin-ear dialogue as dramatically as if it were Shakespearean. Listeners may find there are worse things than death by poisonous methane. A Forge hardcover (Reviews, Mar. 16). (June)

September 14, 2009: Bill Evans and his co-author Marianna Jameson have done it again! "Category 7" was a best-seller; don't be surprised when this hits the best-seller lists too. I finished the book in two nights -- couldn't put it down! I hope there's a third book in the works -- soon!

    I Also Recommend: Category 7.

September 12, 2009: Saving the world is really a tall order but that's precisely what Dr. Sam Briscoe must do. Billionaire Dennis Cavendish is a good guy who wants to stay ahead of the game. One way he believes he can do this is by mining crystalline methane. That's not the easiest of tasks since its beneath the ocean floor. As if that weren't challenge enough his efforts are being sabotaged bu Gaia, an ecoterrorist organization, that has so far succeeded in murdering his science team and releasing untold quantities of poisonous methane - the death toll would be unimaginable.

Enter Sam Briscoe who hooks up with Cavendish's super smart (and, of course, beautiful) security chief Victoria Clark to try to stop the carnage.

Evans, a well known senior meteorologist, brings a wealth of salient information to his story, while Jameson adds her expertise in the aerospace, defense, and environmental engineering industries to the mix.

As read by Peter Larkin who gives a controlled, understated voice performance, Frozen Fire provides chills for those who enjoy their suspense laden with technology.
