    Synopsis

Among the most popular of Sawyer's early paperback orginals were his novels of intelligent dinosaurs, the Quintaglio trilogy. Now we add the second of this trilogy, out of print since 1996, to the Tor Sawyer list in trade paper.

    Annotation

Toroca, son of Afsan the Far-Seer, pushes his skills as a geologist to the limit on a quest for rare metals. If he succeeds, the raw materials will enable his race of intelligent saurians to travel to the stars. Instead, Toroca discovers an ancient artifact that may at last reveal the true origins of his people . . . and may destroy the very foundation of the saurian faith! Original.

    Library Journal

While a young archaeologist unearths information that may help his people save their race from cosmic destruction, a battle for planetary leadership theatens to undermine the fabric of Quintaglio society. This sequel to Far-Seer (Ace, 1992), set on a planet where dinosaurs evolved as the dominant species, explores the repercussions of a peoples' discovery of their true origins. Doctrines of evolution and creationism clash in an unexpected context in this thoughtful and compelling sf adventure, which belongs in most sf collections.
