September 01, 2008: I had hoped this would be much more in depth than it was. What WAS in depth about it was the excruciatingly complete synopsis of many of Miss Russell's films. What I had hoped for was something more along the lines of 'A Rose for Mrs. Miniver', Greer Garson's biography. The author of Forever Mame spent time on non-Rosalind Russell related trivia, like how the MGM logo was designed and developed. Interesting information but not for this book. There were flashes of interesting information about the woman herself but I think her own autobiography was much more insightful, although perhaps, understandably, not as objective. The author of Forever Mame spends too much time, for my taste, finding errors in Miss Russell's own book. He should have paid more attention to some of the errors in his book.
