    History Made Funby Jarhead

February 12, 2009: There are any number of historical novels on the shelves. You read them and get a lesson in that period of history. The plots are serious and sometimes the characters are on the edge of the story. Flashman is different in that hardly notice the historical event but you learn. You have fun reading about this coward, adulterer, and cad as he tried to circumvent duty, honor and humanity to preserve his own life. But at the end of the day, you realize that you now know alot about the characters and events surrounding the British occupation of Kabul and the destruction of the British army there. It is a fun and educational read.

I Also Recommend: Flashman in the Great Game, Flashman and the Redskins.

July 24, 2008: If you thought you could never love a lecher, a liar, a cheat, a thief, a bully, a coward and an all around scoundrel rolled into one, think again. Sir Harry Flashman does it all in true Victorian swashbuckling style. The way Mr. Frasier combines some of the more well known events and people from the history books with one of the most unforgettable characters you?ll ever hate to love (or love to hate, depending) is pure genius, not to mention laugh out loud funny. The best series I?ve ever read.
