Excellent Directing Bookby Anonymous

The best book I have evr read about film directing is the 3 chapters in the Dov Simens book, 'FROM REEL TO DEAL', although his book covers Filmmaking A-Z in his 51 chapters the 3 that are specifically about how to direct are super. After those chapters I recommend reading this book on Directing A-Z. I should know I m a seasoned pro director in the commercial industry.

Very comprehensiveby Anonymous

I would almost consider this a college text book, though it lacks the exhorbitant price tag. The book is too comprehensive to be taken in by simply reading it, at least for me, but acts as a great reference for any questions one might have as a director. The visuals are also excellent, and all elements of composition are explained thoroughly with comments on style, trends, and general preferences....

This book is a great resource on filmmaking. The in-depth analysis of the medium is helpful to aspiring filmmakers and current filmmakers. I bought this book for a college course and have kept it in my private library because I find it useful. It's easy to read and understand, and it's very inetersting. I highly recommend.

Synopsis

A complete catalogue of motion picture techniques for filmmakers. It concentrates on the 'storytelling' school of filmmaking, utilizing the work of the great stylists who established the versatile vocabulary of technique that has dominated the movies since 1915. This graphic approach includes comparisons of style by interpreting a 'model script', created for the book, in storyboard form.
