      Synopsis

James Baldwin has captured some of our cultures time honored classic tales in one volume. These tales tell the story of famous people. They are legends or half-truths. Some stories have historical value, while others are simply for amusement. This collection can be a beginning for a child's education in literature and a wonderful book to be read with parents.

      Biography

In 1953, a young James Baldwin published Go Tell It on the Mountain, winning acclaim as a literary star and one of the leading voices of the African-American experience. Although Baldwin would spend the bulk of his adult life in France, his writing always addressed the complexities at the heart of America, viewed through the lens of the consummate outsider.
