      Synopsis

      NEW YORK CITY

FANDEX celebrates the exuberant city of New York, from Battery Park to Rockefeller Center to Yankee Stadium, the house that Ruth built. Meander through Greenwich Village's tangle of streets, some of which follow Algonquin Indian paths. Visit the Statue of Liberty, whose nose is as big as the average nine-year-old. Have a nosh at the coffeeshop featured in Seinfeld.

Covering monuments, buildings, museums, zoos, parks, neighborhoods, plus subways, cabs, delis and more, NEW YORK FANDEX brings alive the Big Apple and all its must see destinations.

      Joan Kindig, Ph.D. - Children's Literature

Anyone planning a trip to New York City would do well to pick up a copy of this playfully designed guidebook. Meant to hit the top sightseeing attractions in New York City, this guidebook is presented in full color, has a trim size, and the pages are connected by a grommet. The grommet allows the pages to fan out and present a cornucopia of NYC delights for the first time visitor. A number of the pages are die-cut in the shape of the building or attraction, which will entice any child to participate in planning a family trip. The attractions are listed in alphabetical order and each page offers the address and cross streets so you can find your way easily as well as some interesting information about the place. For example, in addition to the address of the Empire State Building, numerous facts about when it was built and how many bricks it took to build it are included. Children will be enthralled by this kid-friendly introduction to tourism. While this guidebook is perfect for the child in all of us, a companion guidebook is in order. This guidebook does not offer information about convenient subway stops nor does it offer the daily schedule or costs of the attractions. Whet their appetites with the Fandex guide to New York City and also buy a basic guidebook so that you don't miss a single one of these fabulous attractions. 2004, Workman Publishing, Ages all.
